What is meant by M&T, T&G?

Mortise and Tenon is a method of joining two pieces of timber, usually at 90 degrees.  The mortise is a chiselled hole in one piece of timber and the tenon is the tongue that fits snug in the mortice hole to form a secure joint. Tongue and Groove boards are where one edge of the timber board has a tongue and the other edge has a groove so one board fits into another tongue into groove.

What does PSE mean?

A planed side and edge.

What does rough sawn mean?

What does pressure treated mean?

This is a process that forces chemical preservatives into the timber.  To do this the timber is placed inside a closed cylinder then vacuum and pressure are applied to force the preservatives into the timber.  The preservatives help protect the wood from attack by termites and other insects and fungal decay.

Why do timbers vary in colour?

All trees are different in their form, colour and grain so when timbers are treated it will penetrate differently.  These colour differences will become less visible overtime.

Can I paint treated timber?

If you paint your treated timber it will not affect your treated timber.  So long as you use a good quality timber treatment specific to your products ie., shed treatment, fence etc. These products will also bring some colour back to your timber once the sun has faded the timber.  Always make sure your timber if fully dry before painting.

What timber treatments do you recommend?

We recommend Creoseal, it is by far our best selling treatment and is very good value.  We do however offer good quality alternatives in a range of colours and natural finishes.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit and debit cards online and over the telephone and cash and credit and debit cards instore.
